WHAT IS SKIJÖRING?
Skijöring comes from the Norwegian word skikjøring and refers to a sport where a skier is pulled by one or more dogs. This sport is very similar to dog sledding, except that it is practiced on skis instead of a sled. So, if you don’t have a large enough sled dog team for mushing, you should try skijoring instead! When performed on flat terrain, skijöring is similar to cross-country skiing, but the skier is assisted by a canine teammate.
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?
First and foremost, the skier needs to be equipped for cross-country skiing. Additionally, you will need a dog harness, a belt (similar to the one used in canicross), and a bungee leash.
